It is our dream for our patients to have excellent oral health. Wouldn’t it be amazing if you and your loved ones never had to worry about decay, gum disease, or other oral health problems? While that is, unfortunately, not the reality, there are certain precautions you can take to ensure you have the best oral health possible. Preventative dentistry is one of the best options to improve your current and future oral health. Read on to learn more.
What is Preventative Dentistry?
Preventative dental care is the act of caring for your teeth properly to avoid dental issues and problems in the future. We want to help our patients create a solid foundation for their oral health. There are two excellent ways to achieve this:
Routine Dental Care
It is imperative that you visit our office for routine oral hygiene examinations and cleanings. The majority of people should visit us every six months; however, there are some who require more frequent appointments due to existing complications with their oral health. During these visits, we can check your teeth and gums and look for problems such as dental decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. Early diagnosis and receiving immediate treatment are the keys to overcoming your oral health complications.
Oral Hygiene Routine
Aside from visiting our office, you should be brushing your teeth for two minutes twice a day and using dental floss daily as well. Regularly check your teeth and gums and look for anything that doesn’t seem right. This can be done by looking inside your mouth as well as by running your tongue along your teeth and gums. Be sure to contact us as soon as possible if you notice a problem with your teeth and gums.
We want to help you and your family have excellent oral health for many years to come. If you or a loved one needs a routine hygiene examination, be sure to contact our office, which is located in Kewaskum, WI, to schedule an appointment. We are also happy to help any patient who needs restorative dental care or to schedule a recommended dental treatment. We look forward to seeing you soon!
