Denture Relines in Kewaskum, WI

As time goes on, your gum tissues will change and the fit of the denture will become more loose and as a result, more prone to movement inside your mouth. Every one or two years, professional denture relines will keep the denture secure and functional.

Hard Reline

Every two years, all full dentures should have a hard reline. Kewaskum Family Dentistry removes a layer of plastic from the dentures interior surface, and then fills the denture with a putty-like material. The material conforms to the contours of your mouth creating a precise impression. The denture is then sent to the lab where it is adjusted to the new shape of your gum tissue. The result is maximum contact between the denture and your mouth.

Soft Reline

Due to tender gums or sore spots, some patients are unable to wear ordinary dentures. If this is the case, Kewaskum Family Dentistry may recommend relining the denture with a material that stays pliable for one to two years before it needs to be replaced. This material minimizes sore spots unlike standard hard reline acrylic. Patients who experience these problems may want to consider a more permanent solution of implant retained dentures.

Temporary Relines

A patient’s gums may be red, swollen, or misshapen if dentures have not been serviced in quite some time. This can create problems when taking impressions for a new hard or soft reline. In turn, this may cause the denture to not fit properly.

We may recommend a temporary, or palliative (medicated) reline material to allow the inflammation to subside. This reline will make the denture fit much more tightly, and is usually soft and pliable. After a few weeks, the gums return to a more normal state, and the patient is then ready for their new denture or hard reline.

10/10 recommend Kewaskum Family Dentistry! Dr. Sarah and all of the staff are incredibly compassionate, gentle, and kind. I’ve always dreaded going to the dentist (and still do…), but my experiences have been nothing short of “wonderful” - or as “wonderful” as cleanings and other dental procedures can be 😉

I can’t express enough how much I appreciate this staff - Gibbs included 🥰

Also-the new building is GORGEOUS and every detail makes it such a comfortable setting. There’s also a large parking lot 😎

The new clinic is beautiful and very welcoming. Both girls in the front smiled and welcomed us as we came in. My husband saw Denise for a cleaning. He said she was friendly and felt she did a good job.

Had my recent check-up with Dr. Sara and her hygienist Jodi, and what a friendly place. The staff, from front office people on over to the hygienists and the dentists, they clearly work well together. Their collegiality makes for a very relaxed yet professional atmosphere, with a comfort pooch to boot! Love seeing the dog snoozing in the hallway or walking up and down the halls, checking in to see if his “services” i.e. calming down a nervous patient, are in order. Great place to keep those pearly whites sparkling!
