What You Should Know About Immediate Dentures
The first step in the process is to take an impression of your existing teeth and gums to create accurate duplicates for placement after tooth removal. During your extraction appointment, your immediate dentures are placed and will create a natural and beautiful smile.
In most cases, there is no way to check the fit of the denture in your mouth prior to extraction. Esthetic compromises may have to be made in some cases to compensate for spacing issues or structural concerns.
After Extraction
It’s important to follow all postoperative instructions. Your gums and bone will recede after extraction, and regular check-ups and maintenance are critical so we can monitor healing and reduce problems. During the healing period, temporary linings or tissue conditioners are required to create an optimal fit. They also may need to be adjusted or replaced a number of times during this time. A permanent reline is required to ensure a comfortable and precise fit after the healing process is complete.
We will advise you of the procedure that best suits your individual needs. Please note that temporary liners, tissue conditioner and relines are additional services that may have separate fees.
